What do a doctor, an MMA champion, and a drag queen have in common? More than you might think. They all ask themselves the same fundamental question: what truly gives life meaning? Eight people with very different backgrounds took on the challenge and curated this deeply personal exhibition.
'Pediatrician Annet van Royen-Kerkhof has included the video work Dear Son in her selection. She finds it a moving video, and as a doctor, the relatable element of losing a child touches her deeply. Staying connected with bereaved families after such an event is an important part of her sense of purpose in her profession. The other works in her selection each highlight women from history, with Dear Son standing out as the only contemporary artwork. Delving into other perspectives is one of her core themes'.
